The Order of the Knights of the Round Table was established in early 2022. It was inspired by early 20th-century organizations, such as the International Order of the Round Table and the Order of the Knights of King Arthur, and shares the objective of developing in children a strong sense of honor, bravery, and service.
George Herbert Whyte (1879-1917) established the first iteration of the Round Table on July 5, 1908, with the vision of promoting within children a strong sense of civic duty, physical discipline, and spiritual development without discriminating against sex, religion, or creed. Today, the Round Table remains non-political, encouraging members to explore their spirituality and to be responsible citizens without emphasizing any one religion or political ideology. Whyte wrote: "Let our motto be ‘Follow the King.’ Who is the King? That we must each one of us find out for ourselves, and we shall be free to choose, as long as our King is great and wondrous and there shines about Him the glory of the Perfect Man. We shall know Him as we begin to serve Him and shall find Him when, in years to come, we have learned to serve Him well."
The activities of the Round Table teach children the necessary virtues to lead a life worthy of remembrance. Using the myths and legends of King Arthur and his knights of the Round Table, a strong sense of chivalry is taught, believing that today's world has forgotten the value of self-control, self-reliance, and self-respect.
Since its founding in August 2022, the Order of the Knights of the Round Table has expanded to include Tables in the United States, Philippines, and Costa Rica, with parents and children around the globe working to form Tables in other countries.
